In black households, it is a must that a woman must submit to their man as the head of the family and provider, this includes letting go some parts of your individuality. For instance black married women are told to cover themselves when married and not show way too much skin.
Do you think it's fair that black women have to compromise certain things all in the name of being a submissive wife yet men can do as they like even if they married ? , if yes state your reasons and vice versa

DeleteIf there's one thing I'll never understand, it's black people's culture or rather Basotho's. I don't understand why women have to do all those ridiculous things all in the name of love or being a wife material. Why can't you be submissive without having to compromise? Worse why are women expected to be the only ones to compromise? I think it's all rubbish.

ReplyDeleteIt's not fair hey, was culture meant to be for women or for everyone? why would women have the most responsibilities and are expected to the most when it comes culture but men are just to be respects and thats all. So it's not really fair
ReplyDeleteBeing submissive is a great thing but I believe that what is done to women ( especially black) is not fair because it sounds more like oppression, and allow men to feel more superior.

ReplyDeleteIt is not fair at all. This just reminded me of a post i came across where a man complains that the wife is failing her duties like conceiving. Why doesn't he think he too has a problem instead of assuming that the wife is infertile, roles have to be changed. So it is not fair at all

ReplyDeleteI can say it is both fair and unfair depending on different matters. For instance, a married woman cannot dress like a girl but dress in a way that is respectable and in a way that will show it's a woman not a girl. Sometimes it is not fair to be submissive because not everything needs to be submitted to the head of the family. For example, imagine a woman asking the man what to buy in town as groceries.
